WHO WE ARE

BIBLICAL: We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God. Holy Scripture is the life-blood of our faith. It uniquely communicates who God is and what He desires from us as His people. We seek to submit to Scripture in all things, reading it regularly, growing together as the church, and submitting ourselves to its teachings.

CREEDAL: The Nicene Creed is a centerpiece of Christianity. It contains the content of our faith in capsule form and connects us to the ancient church as well as the global church of today. Anglicans also recognize the Apostle’s Creed and the Athanasian Creed. We believe these historic creeds faithfully express the Christian faith and the standard for orthodoxy.

LITURGICAL: The liturgy of Holy Communion as well as the liturgical calendar of the church year mark the rhythms of our communal life as Anglicans. These liturgical elements are grounded in the two-beat rhythm of Morning and Evening Prayer found in the Book of Common Prayer. The standard BCP was authorized by the British government in 1662. St. Andrew’s currently uses the ACNA 2019 BCP which can be found online HERE.

SACRAMENTAL: Anglicans recognize two sacraments, baptism and the Lord’s Supper, also called Holy Communion. St. Andrew's believes that God uses his creation to communicate his grace to his people. Sacraments are outward and visible signs of inward and spiritual grace, given by Christ. Yet they are also the sure and certain means by which we receive that grace.

CHRIST-CENTERED: All these factors, from the primacy of Scripture to our connection to the global church in creed, liturgy and sacrament, only serve to point us more fully to Jesus, the risen Savior of the world. St. Andrew's seeks to exalt Jesus Christ and our sincere hope is that many will be brought into a deeper relationship with Him through us.
